Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles scored his first touchdown since Week 16 of the 2016 NFL season when he took it to the house during the team's Monday night showdown against the Washington Redskins.

Sproles found the end zone with 1:46 left in the second quarter, which gave the Eagles a 14-10 advantage before the Redskins landed a field goal prior to halftime.

It certainly had to be a special moment for the veteran speedster, who hasn't seen much action over the past few seasons.

But it was evident prior to Monday's game that head coach Doug Pederson would find ways to utilize Sproles now that he's back on the field, via Daniel Gallen of PennLive.com:

“You can't just say, ‘Darren, here's the game plan, let's go. You're back 100 percent. You're rocking and rolling. We're gonna put you in. You're gonna get X number of touches. You're gonna return every punt and all that,’” Pederson said. “I think that's a disservice to him.”

“For him, it's now about getting back to game speed and getting caught up with that and the physical nature of the game, being tackled again, but we'll see, we'll see,” Pederson said. “We've got another day today to see where he's at physically, but he's doing well and on track to play this weekend.”

Sproles now has 23 career rushing touchdowns to go along with 30 receiving scores. He also has nine career touchdowns on special teams.
