Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones is not a man who makes excuses. That became evident when Jones would not attribute any potential shortcomings against the Philadelphia Eagles to his lingering ankle injury.

Needless to say, he has stuck by that notion amidst their disappointing loss in the NFC Divisional Round. According to ESPN's Vaugh McClure, Jones held himself accountable for the final play of the game:

“It was just a sprintout, a rollout to me,” Jones said. “Trying to take advantage of one-on-one [coverage] down there.

“I don't know, but at the end of the day, I can make those plays. I ended up on the ground when I came out of my route. And that's a tough call [for the official] to make during that situation in the game. That was it.”

Atlanta had struggled mightily early on after shooting themselves in the foot with several costly mistakes. However, they ultimately found themselves in position to win the game on their final drive.

Jones had initially run a comeback route toward the sideline before slipping while making his cut. Quarterback Matt Ryan managed to buy enough time to throw it up to his star wideout. Unfortunately, Jones was unable to come down with the ball near the sideline.

Although it may not have worked out the way they wanted, the Falcons ultimately got the look they wanted. Jones enjoyed yet another stellar postseason performance recording nine receptions for 101 yards. Unfortunately, the red zone woes between Ryan and Jones had been suffering all year wound up being their downfall this time around.
