Atlanta Falcons wide receiver looked set to hold out of training camp, according to a report earlier this week. It certainly made sense given the fact that Jones had already sat out the entire offseason due to his desire to get a reworked deal, which the Falcons reportedly weren’t willing to give this year.

But then, the Falcons came to terms on a contract adjustment that would pay him an extra $2.9 million on top of the $10.5 million he’s already set to make this season just before camp.

As it turns out, though, Jones was always going to show up with or without that adjustment. He said he'd already spoken to coach Dan Quinn and teammates to tell them that he would be at camp.

“I was already gonna come here. They took care of it. We knew all along we were gonna get it handled,” Jones said per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Jones’ comments appear to be consistent with what head coach Dan Quinn said recently that he knew Jones would be back for training camp when the wide receiver joined Matt Ryan and other teammates to work out for a week in California.

Due to the sequence of events with Jones getting his adjustment just ahead of camp, no one knows for sure whether he actually would’ve shown up as he claims. However, that doesn’t really matter anymore.

What matters is the Falcons’ superstar wideout is happy that he’s got his money and is at training camp with the team preparing to have another great season.
