Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton has thrown shade at his ultimate Formula 1 nemesis Max Verstappen following their infamous crash at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

As expected, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen went toe-to-toe once again at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. The pair had been involved to several incidents throughout the race but the most dramatic one happened on lap 37.

Advised by his team to hand Hamilton the lead or he will risk a penalty, Verstappen obediently slowed down to allow the seven-time Formula 1 champion to pass him. However, instead of speeding, Hamilton also slowed.

Seemingly left with limited options, the Red Bull driver slowed even further and that's when Hamilton ended up hitting him.

Revealing his honest take on the incident, Hamilton took a dig at Verstappen and reckoned that his rival was clearly not playing by the “rules.”

“I've raced a lot of drivers through my life in the 28 years,” Hamilton said of Verstappen via CNN. “I've come across a lot of different characters and there's a few at the top which are over the limit. Rules kind of don't apply, or they don't think of the rules.”

“He is over the limit for sure,” he added. “I've avoided collisions on so many occasions with the guy, and I don't always mind being the one that does that, because you live to fight another day, which I obviously did.”

Verstappen, on the other hand, insisted that he was just “downshifting and braking” to let Hamilton go by and he didn't understand why the Mercedes driver decided to ran into his back.
