McLaren's Lando Norris has emerged as a popular Formula 1 driver in Italy, raising the question of a possible move to Ferrari in the future.

Norris explains his current status with McLaren and answers what his future could hold to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“At the moment I am happy where I am and I have just renewed my contract with McLaren, with whom I want to win the world championship for both drivers and constructors.” Still, you never know in Formula 1″.

Norris also recognizes his extended popularity in Italy.

“In ten years I don't know what might happen. I have a lot of Italian fans, which was noticeable in Monza. I was met at the hotel and on the track and I could feel their great warmth.”

During his first two seasons, Norris experienced teaming up with one of Ferrari's current drivers, Carlos Sainz. The British star shares how the two have been able to develop a friendship.

“I became friends with Carlos because we love racing and we were very competitive with each other, even on the simulator or playing golf.”

Today, Norris sits at fourth of Formula 1's driver standings, with McLaren at third place in the constructor championship. Norris was on track for his first career race victory, leading for the entire race, but the rain in Sochi thwarted the British racer, leaving him to finish at seventh place. Still, Norris is highly regarded as one of F1's top young drivers, showing flashes of greatness throughout his early career.
