Days after rumors of a standalone expansion spread, Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut has been confirmed with an official trailer.

The Director's Cut will be available for both PS4 and PS5 on August 20. It will include the rumored expansion to Iki Island, which was also heavily affected by the 1274 Mongol Invasion.

The official press release states that it will also include new characters, armor, mini-games, techniques, enemies, and more. Story-wise, it will be a new chapter in Jin Sakai's story, where “he will find himself caught up in events with deeply personal stakes.”

Over on the PS5, the Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut comes with a slew of new improvements. It will take advantage of haptic feedback, 4K resolution, and the highly-requested Japanese lip-sync.

For people who already own it on the PS4, you'll be able to transfer your save to PS5 and continue directly from there. For fresh players, the expansion begins in Act 2 after reaching the Toyotama region.

SuckerPunch will also release a patch with free quality-of-life and accessibility options for all owners of the game. This will also come with the much-requested lock-on option. The multiplayer side-content in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will also be releasing with a new game mode for free.

Ghost of Tsushima released to critical and commercial acclaim last year, with more than 6.5 million units sold. Devoted fans even helped restore a real-life shrine earlier this year.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut will launch for $69.99 on PS5 and $59.99 on PS4. An upgrade option is also available for existing owners for $19.99.
