Dave Gettleman has continued to earn the ire of New York Giants' fans thanks to his unceremonious trade of Odell Beckham Jr.

In fact, he's under so much fire that according to ESPN, he had to hold a press conference to discuss the trade of what was considered one of the best players in the NFL.

Gettleman told a skeptical crowd that the Giants can still “win while they're building,” even though they've traded away Beckham for Jabrill Peppers and draft picks.

With the Giants' future in limbo, Gettleman was questioned, again, what the fans could expect from the upcoming season, and he doubled down on the “building” remark — even going so far as to getting nasty with those that questioned his ability to govern the team appropriately.

“We're building. The object of this is to win as many games as possible every year. So we're building. We were 3-13 when I took over. We were 5-11 last year — 12 of those games were a touchdown or less. We're building. I don't understand why that is a question. Trust me, we have a plan. And over time, you have to be patient. Everybody wants answers now. We live in an instant gratification society, instant gratification world, and everybody wants answers now. Over time, you'll see it. You have to trust it.”

It sounds like Gettleman knows that the fans are — justifiably — upset about this latest move, and will do anything to try to get to the bottom of things. It will be interesting to see if Gettleman's assessment about “trusting the process” does indeed come to pass.
