Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning officially bit the bullet and joined Twitter on Saturday. He did so in grand style.

Manning tweeted out a humorous reference to the movie Hoosiers, which was slightly altered for contextual purposes.

Eli had previously hinted at joining Twitter in April.

The two-time Super Bowl champion had a text conversation with former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes, who posted the conversation to Twitter and noted Manning would be a hysterical presence on social media.

It would seem the peer pressure got to Manning, who will now have plenty of time to conceive more humorous tweets in retirement.

Eli did not necessarily have the kind of conclusion he might have envisioned. The 39-year-old started the 2019 season under center for the Giants, but he was eventually replaced by rookie quarterback Daniel Jones.

Understanding the franchise was going in a different direction, Eli Manning elected to retire.

Eli has said he wants to remain involved in football in some capacity, though he noted he has no desire to coach at the collegiate or professional level. Manning also said he might consider working on television if the opportunity presented itself.

While Manning will look to up his Twitter game in the coming weeks, the debate will continue to rage with respect to his Hall of Fame candidacy.

According to Pro Football Reference, Eli's Hall of Fame monitor is 83.41, ahead of HOF quarterbacks such as Jim Kelly, Troy Aikman, Ken Stabler, Warren Moon and Joe Namath.

Time will tell whether Eli is penalized for his .500 career record. In the meantime, fans will have to see what kind of presence he establishes on Twitter.
