Eli Manning might be getting into the social media game in retirement. Former New York Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes shared a text message between the two in which Manning suggested he was āThinking aboutā getting a Twitter account.
I had a really nice text exchange with a QB friend of mine telling him he needs to activate a Twitter account. Here is the reply, fingers crossed š¤š¼ pic.twitter.com/vvH5hV2VPO

Tynes also gave his personal reasons for wanting to get Eli on Twitter, calling him āhilarious and awesome.ā
My number 1 reason for Eli getting a twitter account.
First question I get from anyone Giants or non Giants fan, āwhatās Eli like?ā Heās fucking hilarious and awesome thatās what. Most competitive dude I have ever met. Giants fans love him, America would love Twitter Eli #GMEN

Manning avoided partaking in any social media throughout the length of his 16-year career, butāapparently thanks in part to pressure from former teammates like Tynesāhe might be caving.
Whereas Eli's older brother Peyton permeated American television sets and presented himself as one of the most marketable athletes in all of sports (Peyton now has his own shows on ESPN+), Eli has been less inclined to seek out notoriety.
Butārather than quietly going off into the sunsetāit seems Eli is taking interest in letting his voice be heard. The former Giants signal-caller announced his retirement in January, and he will go down as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) quarterbacks in franchise history.
Eli has been vocal amid the coronavirus pandemic, accepting Peyton's ā#ALLINCHALLENGE' and putting his convertible on the line (via Mollie Walker of theĀ New York Post):
A little over an hour before Tynes posted that conversation, Manning replied to brother Peyton Manningās ā#ALLINCHALLENGE,ā a celebrity-driven fundraising initiative started by Fanatics to feed those in need. In a videoĀ posted by SportsCenter, Manning revealed that he was offering a chance to own the convertible he took home after winning his Super Bowl XLVI MVP.
Though he was often stoic and soft-spoken during his playing career, perhaps Eli will unleash a new personality on social media.
That is if he does indeed decide to join Twitter.
