Second-year running back Saquon Barkley helped lead the New York Giants to a rare victory on Sunday afternoon in our nation's capital. Upon defeating the rival Washington Redskins in Week 16, Barkley and the company ultimately needed overtime to edge their divisional foe by the score of 41-35.

The talented Giants rusher notably produced 189 rushing yards and one touchdown on 22 carries against the Redskins. Barkley also added four receptions for another 90 yards and one more touchdown to cap off the memorable outing.

“I think that’s kind of what they envisioned when they drafted DJ and they drafted me,” Barkley said after the Week 16 NFC East clash, via Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com. “I think we both [have] the potential and the talent to play well together, and open stuff up for each other, and I think we showed that, with the help of everyone else.”

While earning a victory over the Redskins, the Giants have now won just four regular-season games this time around. Nonetheless, Barkley believes that “Big Blue' has shown signs of life down the stretch this season.

“I think it just shows that we've got grit, we've got heart,” Barkley added, via NorthJersey.com. “A lot of people probably wanted us to just lay down and lose for draft picks, but we had the mindset of a team that we want to finish the season off strong, and we have the opportunity to do that next week.”

Although fighting for NFL Draft position at this point in the year, the Giants players — Barkley included — have definitely played like they care about winning football games over the course of the last few weeks.
