The Memphis Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace is doing damage control following an altercation between Garrett Temple and Omri Casspi following Wednesday night's loss to the Detroit Pistons. The Grizzlies are looking to put this story behind them and move forward without any more controversy.

“First of all, I'd like to apologize to our great fans on behalf of our team and the entire organization. We had an emotionally-charged meeting last night and unfortunately, our emotions got the best of us. We still believe in the character of the men in our locker room. This has been a resilient group and a terrific group to work with. We think they'll come together at this point, we're not going to let this divide us. We will come together even further. Again, we apologize for last night. It was an unfortunate incident and now we're moving forward to tomorrow night against Brooklyn.”

Wallace handles the situation as well as one can expect him to. He doesn't throw either of his players under the bus and he makes sure to refrain from throwing fuel on the fire. He also told reporters that they would deal with the situation internally.

The best thing that can happen for Memphis is for this story to lose legs and get lost in the news cycle. A physical altercation in the locker room is always going to drum up headlines, but the Grizzlies are hoping the story doesn't gain traction.

A win against the streaking Brooklyn Nets on Friday would go a long way towards putting this story to rest.
