Ja Morant is slowly, but surely, cementing his spot as one of the league's brightest stars. The 21-year-old put his name on the record books on Wednesday after playing his 100th career game for the Memphis Grizzlies. In doing so, Morant has now put himself in quite an elite club being just one of seven players in NBA history to average 18 points per game along with seven assists.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, four among the six previous players to achieve such a feat have been inducted to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Not bad, young fella.

Morant's 100th game actually was a bit of a drag. He struggled on Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder shooting just 5-14 from the field. He finished with 11 points, five boards, and seven assists to help the Grizzlies escape with an away win, 116-107.

Be that as it may, an off-night won't matter that much to the reigning ROTY. Morant's sophomore season has been a delight to watch as he continues to lead his team in points (19.3) and assists (7.5), with both being career-high numbers for the young guard. More importantly, he's been able to lead the Grizzlies to a series of wins which have helped them skim the surface of the Western Conference's playoff picture.

If this most recent feat is a sign of things to come, with the likes of Allen Iverson, Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson leading the way, there's certainly no doubt that Morant's career is off to an iconic start.
