Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant put on another show against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night, pouring in 41 points in a thrilling 104-99 victory. This came after a 33-point effort against the Phoenix Suns, which was capped off by a difficult game-winning bucket right before the buzzer.

The Grizzlies have been outstanding this season, rolling up a 22-14 record to sit in fourth in the Western Conference behind the three-headed monster of the Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz. After Morant's latest heroics, ESPN's Kendrick Perkins made a bold claim about the Grizzlies youngster, calling him the next Giannis Antetokounmpo of the league:

This doesn't necessarily mean Morant will be as good as Giannis, and they're both very different players. But Perk seems to think Morant can lead Memphis to a championship and follow in The Greek Freak's footsteps by hanging a banner in a small market.

While Ja Morant should be doubted at your own peril, it will still be a tall order to ask him to lead this Grizzlies squad to a championship. As good as they are, there are some major behemoths in their way right now. However, with Morant and an excellent young core in place, perhaps this team can indeed grow together and become a legitimate title contender in the coming years.

It would certainly be a lot of fun to watch Morant lead the Grizzlies on a deep run. He's one of the most electric players in the NBA right now and should make his first All-Star Game this season. Let's see what he has in store for us next.
