Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley has now missed the team’s last nine games due to his troublesome Achilles injury. The most recent update on him was a couple of days ago, as the team said he’s still two to three weeks away from returning to the court.

In a Q-and-A with Ronald Tillery of the Commercial Appeal, though, Conley delivers a more up-to-date status of his sore Achilles.

“It’s tough, said Conley. “Anything that has to do with your heel takes a little bit longer to heal. So, I’m just taking it day by day. Hopefully, we’ll know something more in the next week or so.”

Conley and the Grizzlies find themselves in a tough spot with his injury. As Conley notes, Achilles and heel injuries are notoriously more complicated in terms of the healing process.

It’s also a problem Conley’s had before, so even if he returns, there’s the possibility that it flares up again later in the season.

Just about the only thing Conley and the team can do at the moment is wait and hope for the best when it comes to his Achilles injury clearing up in a couple of weeks as they previously anticipated.
