Atlanta Hawks big man Alex Len wants to be the team's starting center next season and he's been working very hard this summer to ensure that happens.

The Hawks lost last year’s starting center, Dewayne Dedmon, to the Sacramento Kings in free agency. Atlanta drafted Bruno Fernando in the 2019 NBA Draft and signed Damian Jones in free agency.

Even though it looks like the starting center spot is Len's to lose, the former No. 5 overall pick says he's going to compete hard in training camp to make sure the coaches name him the starter.

“Obviously, I would love to start,” Len said, via Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. “That’s what I’ve been working the whole summer towards. I’ve been trying to show the coaches and management that I want to be here for the future. We’ll see how it goes because you never know how coaches see the starting lineup. You just never know. You might be the best player out of all the bigs, but Coach might want to go with a more athletic big who plays better defense. I try not to focus on that as much. I just try to be the best I can. In training camp, though, I’m obviously going to fight for the starting job.”
