Atlanta Hawks big man Clint Capela has provided an update on his lingering heel injury which has kept him out for nearly six months now.

According to Capela, he has seen much of an improvement on his plantar fasciitis injury, and that he is now feeling the best he ever has since sustaining the injury.

“Way, way, way better,” Capela said, via Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I’ve been taking care of it all this time. Now I really feel that my heel has really healed. So it doesn’t bother me when I walk around with it or when I work out, so far. I just can’t wait to go out there and play.”

The extended layoff brought about the coronavirus pandemic has provided Capela with more time to heal and recover. At this point, however, the 6-foot-10 big man admitted that he is itching to take the floor again.

“I’ve already had plenty of time,” Capela said. “But definitely, it’s going to help me to go back to the team, have a lot of workouts with the guys, get together 5-on-5, get together for some 3-on-3, get to know each other better and it’ll definitely give me plenty of time to get ready for the next season.”

The only way to heal up this type of injury is through an extended period of rest. This is exactly what the lockdown has provided for Capela, and if all goes according to plan, the 26-year-old should be ready to make his debut for the Hawks once the new season tips off.
