Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell becomes an unrestricted free agent next offseason and multiple NBA execs believe the Atlanta Hawks could be a summer destination for him, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Harrell is making $6 million this season. He figures to get a huge payday in the offseason.

If the Clippers decide to let the big man walk in free agency, the Hawks could come calling:

If the Clippers don't believe they can win with a 6'7″ center, especially one hoping for what is believed to be a $20 million-per-season payday, then they risk losing Montrezl Harrell as a free agent. (Multiple executives believe the Atlanta Hawks could be a summer destination.) Los Angeles would have his rights and the ability to sign-and-trade him to another team, but that's a move entirely dependent on Harrell's participation.

Harrell is averaging 19.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists on the season for the Clippers off the bench. He's shooting 57.3 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Hawks are trying to get as much talent as they can around star point guard Trae Young. While Harrell isn't a traditional center because of his height, he would flourish in the pick-and-roll game with Young, who is already one of the best passers in the NBA.

The Hawks will have cap space next offseason to pursue a wide variety of players.
