Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young is pretty shocked the New England Patriots released wide receiver Antonio Brown on Friday.

Young immediately took it to Twitter after news broke that Brown was getting released by the Patriots.

Antonio Brown played one game with the Patriots. While he scored a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins, New England didn't want to deal with Brown's off the field issues — he has been accused of sexual assault and misconduct by two different women.

Trae Young, and all NBA players for that matter, love the NFL. They keep up with it in their spare time, though that's likely to change with training camp set to start in a few weeks.

The Hawks haven’t made the playoffs since 2017. In a wide-open Eastern Conference, Young and Atlanta are eager to prove the world wrong and make a postseason run this upcoming season.

Young averaged 19.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists as a rookie while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from beyond the arc and 82.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Hawks are excited to see what Young is going to do in his sophomore season.

Atlanta had a pretty productive offseason. The franchise acquired Evan Turner from the Portland Trail Blazers, signed Jabari Parker in free agency, and drafted De'Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish and Bruno Fernando in the 2019 NBA Draft.
