The Atlanta Hawks could potentially be without superstar guard Trae Young on Tuesday night in a crucial Game 4.

Young accidentally stepped on the ref’s foot late in the third quarter and was instantly diagnosed with a sprained ankle. While he did return to the bench and eventually played more minutes in the final period, the Hawks were still waiting to see his MRI results on Monday.

While Trae is listed as questionable, there is definitely a possibility that he plays. A bone bruise and a sprained ankle aren’t ideal by any means, but Atlanta desperately needs their franchise star in order to stay in this series. Young still had a massive night for the Hawks despite the Game 3 loss, dropping 35 points in 39 minutes of action.

But, he did say there was some clear pain in the ankle after the contest. If he does in fact suit up, the Hawks guard will definitely not be at 100%. The lateral quickness and agility off the dribble he possesses won’t be there with these injuries.

The Atlanta Hawks are certainly in a tough position there. While falling into a 3-1 hole isn’t ideal, allowing Trae Young to rest for a game could be the best option. But, we’ll ultimately have to see what happens on Tuesday night.
