The Atlanta Hawks are one of the many teams around the NBA to be hit hard with COVID-19. All-Star point guard Trae Young was placed in the COVID-19 health and safety protocols Sunday morning. He was next in the long line of NBA superstars to enter the league's protocols. He is joined by Nets' James Harden, Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bulls' Zach Lavine, Mavericks' Luka Doncic, among many others.

Since Young was placed on the list, both Kevin Durant and teammate Kyrie Irving were both placed in protocols as well. Situations like that are what have prompted the league to postpone a number of games. There have been numerous instances where NBA teams did not have enough healthy bodies to put a team on the court.

The league is adamant it wants to avoid a shutdown like the one in 2020. They also announced that they are going forward with the Christmas Day slate of games. That is despite a number of key players unable to play on Christmas. According to Yahoo Sports NBA Insider Chris Haynes, Hawks superstar Trae Young will be added to the list of missing players on Christmas.
