Atlanta Hawks swingman Kevin Huerter very nearly turned an easy fast-break opportunity into a turnover, only to pull off one of the better assists of the year in Atlanta's matchup against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.

Following John Collins' block of Rockets guard Eric Gordon, Huerter received the outlet and immediately fumbled the ball into the air as James Harden closed in for the steal.

However, Kevin Huerter was somehow able to recover andā€“in one motionā€“pull off a crisp behind-the-back feed to hit Collins in stride for an easy dunk:

Nothing quite like turning a potential blooper into a highlight.

Huerter continues to build on his promising rookie season. The 21-year-old is averaging 11.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting over 38 percent from beyond the arc, and he has been one of Atlanta's best playmakers outside of Trae Young.

The Hawks entered Wednesday night's game ranked dead-last in both scoring and offensive rating, according to Basketball Reference.

Nevertheless, Huerter gave fans and teammates something to cheer about.
