Shooting guard Dion Waiters' absence from the Miami Heat continues on Tuesday night, as he is inactive against the Denver Nuggets.

Per the South Beach Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman on Twitter:

“Dion will not be active,” Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said. “He will work out. I met with him. He and I talked. Things are a little bit fluid right now, because we have everybody available right now, which is a good thing. And then we'll continue to work it out.”

The 27-year-old Waiters was initially suspended by the team for Miami's season-opener game last month but has continued to miss games. In his stead, the Heat have seen impressive rookies Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro admirably hold down the shooting guard spot in the team's 5-1 start.

Herro, 19, was selected by the Heat with the 13th overall pick in the 2019 draft while Nunn was signed as an undrafted free agent who played last season in the G League for Golden State Warriors' affiliate.

Waiters has averaged 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game in his three-season Heat career, appearing in 120 games. He hasn't always been healthy, but he has been very productive for a Miami team that has seen relative down years in recent seasons. Now, though, Waiters is feuding with the team and his tenure in South Beach could be closing.

Additionally, the Heat signed-and-traded for four-time All-Star swingman Jimmy Butler in the offseason, further dropping Waiters, a former fourth-overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers, down in the depth chart.
