The Miami Heat will host a “L3GACY Celebration” honoring Dwyane Wade. It will be part of a series of events scheduled at AmericanAirlines Arena the weekend of February 21, 22 and 23.

The Heat will be retiring Wade’s No. 3 jersey. The first day of the event is called “The Flashback,” where the team will honor Wade’s impact on NBA basketball and the South Florida community.

Wade’s No. 3 jersey will be officially retired during halftime of the matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 22nd.

The third and final part of the event will be the Heat screening an exclusive early look at a new feature-length documentary that chronicles Wade’s NBA career and life off the court as he goes through his final year in the league. It will reflect back on his personal and professional challenges, victories and setbacks throughout his unwavering journey.

With the celebration set, Wade spoke to Rachel Nichols of ESPN about having a three-day event for his jersey retirement.

“Well, when you got your own county, you can do different things,” Wade said. “It's about right. Three days for number three, three rings, it all goes. It's gonna be a special day for me. I try not to get emotional a lot, but I definitely know I'm gonna be emotional.”

As we all know, Dwyane Wade is the best player in Heat history. He finished his NBA career with averages of 22.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists, all while winning three titles with the South Beach franchise and the 2006 Finals MVP.

The way Wade ended his NBA career was epic. He recorded a triple-double in his last game against the Brooklyn Nets with his best friends courtside. LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony made the trip to the Barclays Center to watch Wade play his final game in the NBA with the Heat.
