Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler missed several weeks of action earlier in the season due to a bout with COVID-19. The five-time All-Star recently opened up about his experience battling the dreaded virus while also shedding some light on a skinny image of himself that had gone viral.

Butler admitted that it was a frightening experience, but also denied that he actually lost a significant amount of weight:

“Yeah, it’s scary,” he said, via Mike Suleymanov of Hoops Rumors. “Don’t believe reports of me losing 12 pounds, either, ‘cause that’s not the case. I had a light headache, and I felt like I was ready to go. I wanted to compete. Obviously, you cannot do that. But it didn’t hit me that hard.”

Fortunately for Butler, the virus did not take its toll on him. The same cannot be said for the millions of others across the globe that had/continue to have more severe symptoms of COVID-19.

It didn't take Butler too long to fully recover from the virus. Since then, he's been playing some outstanding basketball for the Heat (for the most part, at least). Just recently, the 31-year-old logged his third consecutive triple-double in a 118-110 win against the Sacramento Kings.

Jimmy Butler and the Heat are in action on Saturday as they take on the mighty Los Angeles Lakers in STAPLES Center. It's a rematch of last year's Finals, and for Miami, a win against a shorthanded Lakers side would serve as a key victory amid their current struggles.
