Miami Heat president Pat Riley says small forward Jimmy Butler is a top-10 player in the NBA.

Riley has been enamored with Butler for quite some time. He tried to acquire the four-time All-Star last season when Butler requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In the post-Dwyane Wade era, Pat Riley has found his new franchise player. Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra are hoping Jimmy Butler can lead the Heat back to the playoffs this season. Miami missed it in 2018-19.

Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers last season. He shot 46.2 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Jimmy is a two-way player. He is one of the best defenders in the NBA and plays hard every single minute he's on the court.

Butler’s hard-nosed style of play and personality should be perfect for the Heat since Riley loves that type of basketball. All the players in Miami have to be aware that Butler won’t be afraid to call them out if he sees something he doesn't like.

Is Butler really a top-10 player? It's hard to say. What we do know is that Butler is a fierce competitor who imposes his will for 48 minutes.
