GAMESTOP/REDDIT FILM GOING šŸš€šŸš€šŸš€ WITH A PITSTOP IN HOLLYWOOD

The whole GameStop/Reddit saga has captured the imaginations of many people, and the ire of those at Wall Street. Now, Hollywood might even turn it into a film, given the correct circumstances.

MGM, recognizable by its iconic roaring lion, purchased the movie rights for a book proposal called The Antisocial Network.Ā It is New York Times best-selling author Ben Mezrich who proposed to write the book. The book chronicles the incredible fight by the Redditors at r/WallStreetBets who, with collective effort, caused a short squeeze for $GME stocks. The movement, allegedly, responds to hedge fund investors who have been shorting GameStop. The Redditors, having a soft spot for the ailing video game retail company, moved to counter this strategy. Their movement led to a massive increase in the value of $GME stocks, which soared from just about $20 each to over $360 at its peak.

If you're one of those who had trouble following the whole ordeal, then MGM's got you covered. The newly-bought film rights may eventually lead to a GameStop/Reddit film. What's more, Mezrich is not your run-of-the-mill writer cashing in on the real-life drama. He also wroteĀ Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal. Columbia Pictures later adapted the book into the 2010 filmĀ The Social Network.

Getting the GameStop/Reddit film to take off won't be a hard task. Besides, the media attention towards it right now shows that a lot of people found the whole issue entertaining. Even a Twitch stream by AOC garnered more than 600,000 viewers just talking about it.
