The Carolina Hurricanes have their sights set on a Stanley Cup Finals this year, and they may just have the talent to do it. One of the favorites entering the final stretch of the season, the Canes further bolstered the roster with the addition of Colombus Blue Jackets' Max Domi at the NHL trade deadline, according to Elliotte Friedman.

It's unclear precisely what the Hurricanes parted ways with in order to land Domi, but the move could be a big addition towards helping them achieve their ultimate goal this season.

Domi will provide the Canes with an offensive spark that they've been lacking of late. The goals have stopped flowing in Carolina, though their defense remains elite, so adding a talented player like Domi could help them rebuild momentum in the attacking third.

This season with Columbus, the former Blue Jackets left winger recorded 9 goals and 23 assists, totaling 32 points in 53 games. The former first-round pick by the Coyotes is set to join his fourth team in just seven seasons in the NHL. He was drafted in 2013 by the Coyotes, before joining the Canadiens in 2018. He then joined the Blue Jackets in 2020 before getting dealt to Carolina on Monday.

He'll have a strong chance to compete for a Stanley Cup in his new surroundings, as none of his last stops were very competitive situations. He'll now join a team with talented stars such as Andrei Svechnikov, Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Terovainen, among others.

In exchange for Domi, the Hurricanes are sending Aiden Hreschuk to Columbus, a year after selecting him 94th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
