It was not that long ago that the Atlanta Falcons were competing against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. Since blowing their now infamous 28-3 lead, it seems like Atlanta is still dealing with a hangover from that 2017 loss.

Now sitting at 1-3 on the season with a loss against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and only putting up 10 points in that game, some are questioning whether it is time for Atlanta to start over. There is talent still on that Atlanta roster with an MVP in Matt Ryan and one of the leagues best receivers in Julio Jones, but their running game needs to get going.

The other member of that 2017 Super Bowl run, Devonta Freeman has been a shell of the man we saw in 2016 and 2017. With little to no threat of a running game, Ryan and Jones' job becomes a whole lot harder when defenses aren't scared of a running back coming up the middle.

After Sunday's loss, Matt Ryan stated that in his eyes, execution has been Atlanta's problem. The fight is there, but in order for them to get out of their rut, the coaching staff needs to hold up their side of the bargain and make sure the players are ready for each and every game.

While their defense hasn't been spectacular, the offense has the potential to put up many more points than what they are currently producing. Having Ryan not throw for a single touchdown pass with Jones and speedster rookie Calvin Ridley beside him is unacceptable.

On Monday, Atlanta did make a move on the defensive side of the ball by acquiring Johnathan Cyprien in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team that handed them their first and only win. The Falcons recognized they needed help at the safety position, but getting Cyprein doesn't addresses their coverage concern as he has been labeled a “liability” when having to cover.

To address the question, no the Falcons should no blow this team up, as the key pieces they have can still produce at a high level. The question should be whether Atlanta is willing to make the necessary adjustments for them to get back to their winning ways. They must play a cleaner game with mistake free football if they do plan on keeping the core of their team intact.
