The Boston Celtics have a bright future ahead of them, starting this coming season.

They had one of the busier summers among the teams in the NBA. They were able to make a good impression on Kevin Durant and gave themselves a decent chance of landing him in free agency. Though the C's missed out on him, they were able to land All-Star center Al Horford and drafted Jaylen Brown as the third overall pick in this year's draft.

With a retooled roster, they will enter training camp with a lot of optimism and high expectations for their young team. Danny Ainge and co. do have a dilemma they have to address though. Instead of having 15 guaranteed contracts, they currently sit on 16 and have to decide on who to let go off – most likely in a trade.

One of the players who may be potentially traded is James Young. The 17th pick of the 2014 draft has had two forgettable seasons capped off by assignments in the D-League. He has not been able to showcase much of his talents except for the Summer League.

Young owns career NBA averages of 2.2 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.4 assists in 8.9 minutes per game.

After playing for a year in the NCAA with the Kentucky Wildcats, the 21-year-old was a projected top-10 pick but fell to 17th during draft night. He was a highly-touted rookie who displayed a strong perimeter game. But over the past two seasons, he has fallen off the Celtics' rotation.

The good news for him is, he still has a chance to redeem himself and continue his NBA dream this training camp. The Flint, Michigan native will compete for a roster spot against the likes of Jae Crowder, Gerald Green, and Avery Bradley who all play in the wings just like him.

As early as now, the Boston Celtics' training camp for the 2016-2017 season is already expected to be one of most competitive this summer.
