After helping the Golden State Warriors win their second title in three years, many took notice of how JaVale McGee turned out to be an important signing for the team last summer.

Despite being infamous for his on-court antics, he has proven that he can be a solid contributor and rim protector in limited minutes. With his one-year contract about to expire soon, the Dubs will be hard-pressed to keep him and extend a fair offer for McGee to re-sign with them

When asked how he'd feel should he join another team instead because of a lucrative deal they'll give him, the 7-foot center admitted, via Raul Barrigon of USA Today Sports, that he would feel horrible about it, as he prefers to continue his career in the Bay Area.

“Oh man, it would be horrible to leave here. This is the best situation I’ve ever been and I love it here. But I definitely have to make the best decision for my family, I guess.”

Because of his good performance this past season, McGee is expected to receive a decent amount of interest from teams around the league, looking for a center who can provide them quality minutes night in and night out. That said, the Warriors may not be able to offer him as much as what he might receive, and he will be placed in a position where if he chooses his current team, he’ll be leaving money on the table.

It remains to be seen where McGee will end up playing next season, but based on his statement, he wants to continue his solid play with the Warriors, and maybe even give them a discount in free agency.
