The Jazz offseason is well underway, and has been off to an eventful start. Utah has dealt with discontent stars in Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. Matters were made worse following the news that Quin Snyder would step down after eight seasons coaching the Jazz.

Utah’s front office got working on damage control quickly. A list of seven new head coaching targets was released Monday. Wednesday, the search got bigger, as the Jazz are expected to add former Lakers coach Frank Vogel to their list of interviewees for the position.

Vogel entered the coaching candidate pool earlier this offseason when he was let go by the Lakers. The 48-year-old had previously won a championship with the Lebron James-led Lakers. Things went south after the Lakers struggled throughout the regular season and eventually missed the playoffs altogether.

Former Portland HC Terry Stotts joins Vogel as the only former head coaches on the Jazz’s list. It seems that Utah is heavily considering a young, fresh face in the head coaching landscape. However, Vogel’s experience is hard to come by.

Vogel has 20 years of NBA coaching experience, including 11 seasons as a head coach. The sheer amount of time in the league under his belt could entice Jazz GM Danny Ainge.

Additionally, Vogel understands dealing with stars. He just wrapped a stint coaching some of the NBA’s biggest names in Lebron, AD and Russell Westbrook, just to name a few. Dealing with superstar personalities is something Utah could use some help with.

It’s too early to know the exact direction the Jazz are going, but it’s safe to say they aren’t wasting any time exploring their options.
