The NBA world has been set ablaze by the news of the Utah Jazz entertaining a trade for superstar Donovan Mitchell. Just over a week since the franchise shipped out Rudy Gobert, it appears more changes are on the horizon for the franchise. While Mitchell is sure to be the main prize in the eyes of NBA teams, he is far from the only player available. As the franchise heads into rebuilding mode, the Jazz seem open to moving most of the current roster.

In his latest article, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report mentioned one Utah player who is already receiving interest:

“Jarred Vanderbilt has already drawn significant interest from rival teams, sources said, after a strong season starting alongside Karl-Anthony Towns in Minnesota. Just 23 years old, Vanderbilt proved capable of being an impact defender in the playoffs and is under contract for two more seasons at under $5 million in average annual value.”

It should not be a surprise that teams have an interest in Vanderbilt. The 23-year-old played important minutes with the Timberwolves last season. In 25.4 minutes per game, he averaged 6.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals. The power forward is a hard-nosed defender who still has plenty of time to develop.

Jarred Vanderbilt came to the Jazz as a part of the blockbuster Rudy Gobert trade. He is a capable rotational piece on a contending team and does not seem to fit Utah's timeline. While it may end up being a short stint with the franchise, it likely would be the best move for Vando's career. He has been hard at work at continuing to develop his jump shot with NBA skills coach Chris Johnson this offseason. It will be interesting to see what the market looks like for Vanderbilt. Don't be surprised if a contending team swoops in to add him for a draft pick-centered deal.
