The Utah Jazz haven't exactly lived up to expectations so far this season. They have not been bad at all, but after topping the West last season, the Jazz are now sitting at the fourth spot in the conference with a respectable 31-21 record.

Utah remains intent on making another run in the playoffs this year and it appears that they're taking the necessary measures to give their squad the best shot at achieving their goals. The Jazz have already been linked previously to Detroit Pistons stud Jerami Grant and right now, their pursuit for the highly sought-after wing appears to be heating up (h/t NBA insider Kevin O'Connor):

Harrison Barnes has also been rumored to be on Utah's radar, but there's no denying that Grant is the bigger draw here. The Pistons are well aware of the league-wide interest in the 27-year-old and they're looking to get a proper haul in exchange for Grant.

It remains to be seen if the Jazz will be able to meet Detroit's valuation of Grant, but the fact that they have already engaged in trade talks points to the fact that Utah is serious in their chase. The Jazz have a defensive stalwart in Rudy Gobert, but he can't do it all on his own. The addition of a two-way stud such as Grant could be the missing piece that takes this team to the next level.
