D’Angelo Russell is no more in Los Angeles. It’s now the beginning of the Lonzo Ball era.
Players will love to run more, knowing that their lead playmaker will actually look to make plays for his teammates first and foremost. Ball has proven it in the Summer League where he won Most Valuable Player honors.
As for Jordan Clarkson, he knows what to expect next season when he shares the floor with this year’s second overall pick, via Mark Medina of The Orange County Register.
“It makes the game a lot easier,” Clarkson said. “Guys are going to throw it out there. When you’re running the lane, you’re going to get it up there and advance the ball. That helps you play faster. It’s good to know you have a pass-first point guard who will make the right plays.”
The Lakers are going to be a fun team to watch when the regular season tips off, as Lonzo Ball will look to initiate the rebirth of Showtime in Hollywood.
Whether it’s Clarkson or Brandon Ingram scoring from a myriad of spots, Julius Randle receiving passes to bully his way to the paint, or Larry Nance Jr. just flying around, the options are aplenty for the UCLA product.
Jordan Clarkson averaged 14.7 points on 44.5 percent shooting from the field, but those stats are expected to exhibit a spike, thanks to the presence of Lonzo Ball.
