The Kansas Jayhawks can't be stopped. 5-star prospect in the 2018 recruiting class, Devon Dotson, announced he was committing to Bill Self and company on the mean streets of Twitter.

Devon Dotson, who is considered a top-20 prospect, is a 6-foot-2 guard. He spoke to Scout about the commitment:

“It just felt right when I took my visit there,” Dotson said. “I love the coaching staff. Coach [Bill] Self is a great guy. He’s a Hall of Fame coach and I feel like I can get better there and improve.”

“They had a priority for a point guard, they are losing [Devonte] Graham, so they needed a point guard,” he added. “They believe in me and will put the ball in my hands from day one.”

“You want to go to a program where you can be an impact and play from the start,” Dotson said when pressed on his decision to go to Kansas. “This week I talked with my family and I decided on it.”

The prospect is apparently a huge fan of Bill Self as a relationship builder.

“Seems like he really cares about his players,” Dotson said. “The players love him. I feel like the players there have a great relationship with him and that’s big when it comes to picking a school. We clicked and I liked it a lot.”

Former St. John's head coach, now a Kansas assistant, Norm Roberts was a key component in landing Dotson.

“He’s a great guy,” Dotson said about Roberts. “He formed a super good relationship with my whole family. He did a great job of checking in and being at games and coming to see me.”

Style, per usual, mattered during his decision making process.

“They play fast, up-tempo and their guards like to push it,” Dotson said. “They pressure the defense and I feel like I can come in and fit that and do what I do and just create.”
