Alvin Gentry had a blunt reaction to the way the Sacramento Kings lost Tuesday night on the road to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Needless to say, the Kings head coach was not happy at all with how his team found itself on the wrong side of a rule, and he made his feelings known following the 122-114 loss.

Via ESPN:

Gentry was profane in his criticism of the rule, but stressed he didn't blame the officials for enforcing it: “The referees did what they were supposed to do. If there's anything that needs to be changed, it's the rule that needs to be changed. We didn't start the clock. It wasn't our error. We got punished for a (stupid) rule.”

Gentry was referring to the play right after Malik Monk missed his second free throw with only around 24 seconds remaining in regulation. De'Aaron Fox was all alone for what should have been an easy rebound, but he didn't touch the ball to save up some time. But the game clock started to tick even before he touched the ball, thus leading to a stoppage in play. The referees would later call for a jump ball, which the Kings lost, essentially killing their chance to catch up.

It's simply an unfortunate situation for the Kings, who were looking to score their second win of the season at the expense of the Lakers. They will just have to regroup and prepare for their upcoming showdown with the Atlanta Hawks at home Wednesday night.
