There are numerous noteworthy point guards in today's NBA, but Bill Simmons believes Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox will soon be the league's best.

During a recent episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast, a fan asked Simmons an intriguing question: “Who will be the best point guard in five years?” The options listed included: Fox, Ben Simmons, Trae Young, Ja Morant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry. Somewhat surprisingly, Simmons favored Fox:

Via Orlando Silva of Fadeaway World:

“Fox to me is like the old-school point guard that combines a lot of different guys that I like. There’s some Westbrook athleticism with him, there is some Chris Paul run-the-game, doesn’t really care about stats. I think he’s incredibly unselfish and is just an awesome teammate.”

The Kings selected Fox with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The 21-year-old New Orleans native was viewed as a top prospect coming of the University of Kentucky, and now that he has made it to the professional ranks, his game is continuing to improve.

In his rookie season with the Kings, Fox racked up fairly solid numbers (11.6 points, 4.4 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game). In his sophomore season, however, he hit another gear (17.3 points, 7.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals).

Behind Fox, Sacramento finished the 2018-19 campaign with a surprising 39-43 overall record, which left the team just out of playoff contention. Hopefully, the Kings are a team that will find their way back to the hunt in the coming season.
