Sacramento Kings rising star Marvin Bagley III dropped out of consideration for the final roster of Team USA that will compete in the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, Bagley decided not to continue joining the USA Basketball training camp in Los Angeles this week to focus on Sacramento's preparation for the 2019-20 NBA season. The 20-year-old forward was originally selected as part of the USA Select Team but was promoted to the senior team on Friday.

Bagley, the second overall pick of the Kings last year, impressed during the USA Blue and White scrimmag. While he finished with just eight points and three boards, he showed that he can be a solid inside presence for the national squad. Following the scrimmage, USA Basketball promoted him and San Antonio Spurs guard Derrick White to the senior squad.

Bagley's performance in the training camp last week could have been enough for him to make the 12-man roster of Team USA. Curiously, Bagley's teammates will remain with Team USA, as both Harrison Barnes and De'Aaron Fox are considered strong candidates to make the final lineup for the upcoming world cup that will be held from August to September.
