The Sacramento Kings have had problems searching for good coaches in the last decade. They have cycled through different coaches and players over the last few years, but have failed to find any semblance of consistent success. As a result, they now have the dishonor of having one of the longest playoff droughts in US sports.

After sacking Luke Walton earlier in the year, the team is looking at two high-profile coaches to replace interim coach Alvin Gentry. Mike D'Antoni and Terry Stotts are two of the people slated to potentially replace Gentry as the Kings coach next season, according to Marc Stein. (via Hoopswire)

Both D'Antoni and Stotts have impressive resumes that can bolster the Kings' lackluster line of coaches recently. D'Antoni is perhaps the most notable of the two: being the inventor of the legendary Seven Seconds or Less offense of the Steve Nash Suns. More recently, he was the coach of many Houston Rockets teams that took the Golden State Warriors to the brink this decade.

Stotts, on the other hand, isn't as flashy as D'Antoni, but still an upgrade over anyone the Kings ever had. He was the long-time coach of the Damian Lillard-led Trail Blazers teams that were perennial West contenders. He was let go last season as the organization wanted to move in a different direction.

The Kings have an amalgamation of various young talent that have potential. Davion Mitchell emerged as one of the better rookies this year, with his impressive defense and playmaking. De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are a potentially dynamic duo who can become great with the right coaching. If they hire the right coach, they might just make some noise in the West next season.
