So far this offseason, free agent point guards have been the biggest apple in the eyes of the New York Knicks. While lottery pick Frank Ntilikina is poised to become the team’s point guard of the future, New York is still looking out for some immediate help at the position.

Derrick Rose remains an option to be re-signed, but according to ESPN’s Ian Begley, two other floor generals are also on the team’s radar.

Rajon Rondo found himself in coach Fred Hoiberg’s doghouse for most part of the 2016-2017 regular season, leading to several DNP-CDs, much to the chagrin of Chicago Bulls fans.

The former All-Star did bring life back to the team and displayed his effectiveness in their first round series against the Boston Celtics where he averaged 11.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 10.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per game. However, an injury forced him to miss the rest of the series and the Bulls were not able to recover until they got booted out of contention.

Darren Collison, on the other hand, had pedestrian numbers of 13.2 points, 4.6 assists, and a steal per game for the Sacramento Kings in a mediocre season that was sort of a disappointment, individually, as he was expected to break out with the departure of, coincidentally, Rondo.

Over the past couple of days, the Knicks have seen their original targets commit to other teams one by one, which speaks a lot on the urgency that the team must realize before the pool of talent becomes more shallow.
