So much about the New York Knicks franchise is up in the air this summer. Who will the new head coach be? Is Phil Jackson staying or leaving? Will the Knicks get a new point guard? Can Carmelo Anthony be the leader they need him to be?

To that last question, it seems that Melo is at least saying all the right things.

He recently told Ian Begley of ESPN:

“I don’t really know what’s happening as far as the coaching decisions and the players. At this point, I still have to believe in what Phil is doing. I can’t say that I don’t believe in him no more, this is over with. I still have to believe in him.”

While that isn’t a resounding vote of confidence in Jackson, Anthony is certainly trying to stay neutral, if not positive.

Melo also added that he doesn’t want to leave New York:

“I’m here, I still want to be here. I still want to be successful so I don’t have no other choice but to believe in what’s (Jackson’s) plan (is).”

The Knicks have a long way to go before they’re contenders again, but at least they really only have one direction they can go in – up.
