With “Sell the team” chants raining in from the crowd at Madison Square Garden during the New York Knicks' blowout loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, it's clear that fans want the team to run in a new direction.

Well, fans might get that wish as Knicks president James Dolan would reportedly be interested in hiring Oklahoma City Thunder General Manager and President Sam Presti, per Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

Presti Is One Of The Top GM's In The NBA

Presti has served as the GM of the Thunder since 2007 when the team was still the Seattle Supersonics. In his time as GM, the franchise has compiled 10 winning records in 12 seasons. The Thunder also made an NBA Finals appearance in 2012 under Presti.

Presti has also been responsible for trading away multiple stars such as James Harden, Russell Westbrook and Paul George.

The 43-year-old GM was supposed to be going a rebuild with Oklahoma City this season. The team went through an offseason where they traded both George and Westbrook. However, through 50 games, the Thunder are 30-20 and firmly ahead of schedule on the supposed rebuild.

Other names for a new Knicks general manager include Masai Ujiri of the Toronto Raptors and Daryl Morey of the Houston Rockets.

As for the Knicks, the franchise is seen by many as one of the worst-run organizations in sports. Since Dolan took full control of the team in 2000, the Knicks have made the playoffs just five times. They haven't reached the playoffs in the last six seasons.

Currently 13-36 on this season, New York is expected to keep that streak going by season's end.
