Henry Ellenson has impressed the New York Knicks enough to earn a spot on the team for the remainder of this season once his 10-day contract expires, according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Ellenson logged 36 minutes off the bench in New York's 108-103 victory over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night, scoring 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field (3-of-6 from beyond the arc), nine rebounds, five assists and two steals.

“Coach Fiz left me in there for a while,” Ellison told ESPN after Tuesday's game. “I looked back a couple of times because I didn't expect it. He just gave me an opportunity to go out there and play. It was a lot of fun. I couldn't tell you the last time I played 36 minutes.”

Ellenson, now 22 years of age, is a 6-11 power forward who played one season of collegiate ball at Marquette, where he earned Big East Rookie of the Year honors. The Wisconsin native nearly averaged a triple-double with the Golden Eagles, scoring 17 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.

After being selected by the Detroit Pistons with the 18th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, Ellenson served several stints with the Grand Rapids Drive (Detroit's G-League affiliate). However, the Pistons ultimately decided to release the talented big man in February. Just a few days later, he signed a 10-day deal with New York.

The Knicks (13-48 and 5th in the Atlantic Division standings) will be back in action on Thursday night, when they'll serve as hosts to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
