With the success he’s had in the Summer League, Kyle Kuzma’s popularity has risen, and he is now one of the players the Los Angeles Lakers fans are most looking forward to seeing represent the Purple and Gold next season.

After being named the Summer League championship game MVP, Nike did not waste time in offering the 21-year-old Utah product an endorsement deal, which Kuzma agreed to. He will now be part of the sneaker and apparel giants’ long list of sponsored athletes and will wear their products throughout his rookie season. Kuzma made the exciting announcement on his Twitter account.

The 6-foot-9 forward was the 27th overall selection in last month’s draft as the Lakers acquired him from the Brooklyn Nets in the trade involving D’Angelo Russell and Brook Lopez. He has then surprised a lot of people with his solid production in Las Vegas, where he averaged 21.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

Kuzma didn't enter the draft a lot of hype. Many didn't expect him to be chosen until late in the first round or early in the second round, but he’s been proving that he's a diamond in the rough, and could turn out to be one of the better late first round picks in recent years. If he can continue playing solid basketball this year, he may get the chance to be a fixture in the team’s rotation, and could possibly be signed long-term by Nike as well.
