Los Angeles Lakers fans everywhere held their collective breath on Tuesday when superstar big man Anthony Davis went down during a crucial juncture of LA's overtime victory over the San Antonio Spurs. AD was on the ground for a considerable period and it really looked like he was in significant pain as he clutched his right knee.

The Lakers star has already spoken out about the injury, saying that it was nothing more than a “stinger,” which is definitely a welcome development for the LA faithful. Davis also admitted that the injury could have been much worse had it not been for his offseason work in the gym (h/t Jovan Buha of The Athletic):

It is clear that AD used the summer to work on his physique. As it turns out, it's not all about putting on more muscle for the Lakers star. Spending countless hours in the gym during the offseason has apparently also helped his body in terms of dealing with injuries. This was exactly the case on Tuesday night in what could have been a disastrous situation for both Davis and the Lakers.

AD had his best game of the new season on Tuesday as the Lakers notched their second win of the campaign. LeBron James was out of commission due to injury and AD had to step it up for the Purple and Gold. This resulted in a monstrous performance for the 28-year-old, who put up 35 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in the hard-fought overtime win.
