In his first year donning the Purple and Gold, Anthony Davis has already forged himself beside Los Angeles Lakers greats, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O'Neal. In their 106-99 win over the Detroit Pistons, Davis became just the third Laker since 1982 to record 24-11, along with eight blocks.

Anthony Davis has been nothing but stellar in his first year with the Lakers. So far, he's averaging 27.8 points (fifth in the league), 9.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.42 blocks (fourth in the league).

He's been the favorite recipient of LeBron James, who currently leads the league in assists with 11.0 per game. Apart from catching lobs and finishing layups, Davis has also showcased his perimeter game and smooth touch from deep. In his first three games this month, Davis has drained a total of five 3-pointers on 10 attempts.

On defense, Davis continues to hold the fort down — protecting the paint by intimidating those who dare to challenge him. Davis wants everyone in the league to know that when you're facing the Lakers, there's no such thing as easy baskets.

While a lot can still happen in Davis' tenure with the Lakers, perhaps it's safe to say that he's en route to becoming one of the great big men of the Purple and Gold.

Every single Laker fan knew that Davis is one hell of a great player. But not everyone expected that he'd turn out to be this great. Along with LeBron James and the rest of the crew, they have literally brought the team back from a bottom feeder to a legitimate title contender.
