The Los Angeles Lakers are officially listing Anthony Davis as day-to-day following the groin strain he suffered in Game 4 against the Phoenix Suns, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Davis was ruled out of the contest in the second half after he was spotted exiting the floor while walking gingerly. He was clearly in pain as he headed to the locker room, and the worries of the fans proved to be true when the Lakers confirmed his condition.

Furthermore, per Shams, Davis' injury is not that serious–which is why he's day-to-day. There is hope that he will be able to suit up in the all-important Game 5 of the series, but the Lakers are  not raising their hopes that much given the recent injury struggles of the big man.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel told the press in his postgame interviews that they will run further evaluations on Anthony Davis to determine the extent of the injury and if he'll be able to recover in time for their next game. More updates on the severity of the injury  is expected to be released on Monday.

Sure enough, Davis is a critical part of the Lakers. As seen in Game 4 when AD left the floor, the Purple and Gold struggled defensively and allowed the Suns to stage a 27-15 third quarter for a comfortable lead.

Los Angeles plays Phoenix next on Tuesday, and it remains to be seen whether Davis will be ready for that one. However, LA is expected to be cautious on their star big man since was just recently dealing with a knee injury.
