Anthony Davis is willing to play center for the Los Angeles Lakers — if it makes sense.

As the Lakers recorded their first win of the season on Friday night in a convincing victory over the Utah Jazz, 95-86, Davis was relatively quiet.

The prized big man produced just 21 points (on 7-of-17 shooting), seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, five blocks, and three turnovers in 32 minutes of play.

Following the game, Davis spoke about the shift he had to take tonight, as he was forced to log a significant amount of minutes at the five spot for the Lakers.

“If it makes sense, then obviously I don't mind doing it. And it made sense tonight,” added Davis, who had declared his preference for playing the 4 at his introductory news conference, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

L.A.'s starting center, JaVale McGee, had another forgettable performance on Friday, as he put up zero points, four rebounds, and three turnovers in just 12 minutes of action. This follows a rather fruitless 17 minutes played in the team's opener on Tuesday.

The Lakers started Davis at the five for the second half of the game against the Jazz, and this move definitely proved to be the determining factor for L.A.'s impressive run after the break.

Obviously, team head coach Frank Vogel is still trying to figure out his rotational schemes at this point of the season, and it's great that Davis has openly said that he is willing to take on a less-preferred role for the betterment of the team.
