A visibly emotional Derek Fisher was asked to share a little bit about his former teammate and long-time friend Kobe Bryant, who passed away on Sunday in a tragic helicopter accident.

Fisher, who joined the Los Angeles Lakers as a rookie on the same year Kobe was drafted and were part of the franchise's early-00s three-peat then later reuniting with Bryant again to win a few more championships, spoke about how Bryant was off the court and shared what he would want his brother to be remembered by the most.

For Fisher, one of the greatest legacies Bryant left off the court is his vision to elevate the sport of basketball for women. As a matter of fact, Bryant and his eldest daughter Gigi — who was also killed in the crash — were on their way to Gigi's basketball game in which Kobe was supposed to coach.

There are no words to describe this unfortunate turn of event, and Fisher himself was obviously struggling with words as he spoke about his dear friend. As teary-eyed and devastated as he was, however, the retired five-time NBA champ was admirably still able to deliver a moving tribute for Bryant.

Much like the rest of the sporting world, Fisher will continue to mourn the loss of one of the greatest basketball players of all time. It is indeed a sad day, but we all take a bit of consolation in the extraordinary legacy that Kobe has left behind — both on and off the basketball court.
