Retired two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers Shannon Brown has found himself in jail after a shooting incident over the weekend.

According to a report posted on The Citizen, Brown allegedly fired on a random couple that entered his property located in Tyrone, Georgia.

A Tyrone man was charged May 2 with aggravated assault after allegedly firing a rifle in the direction of two people who said they entered his home that was listed for sale, with the gate and front door open.

Shannon Brown, 34, was charged with one count of aggravated assault, according to Fayette County Jail records.

What makes this particularly intriguing is that according to the couple, someone had actually invited them to come inside the open property prior to Brown firing a couple of rounds at them. That is according to the victims, of course.

The couple told police the gate to the property was open, as was the front door, Nelson said, adding that the couple maintained they announced their presence as they entered the home, and that someone inside the home said, “Come in.”

At one point, Brown emerged holding a rifle, with the couple telling police they withdrew from the house and that Brown fired five or six rounds in their direction as they were leaving, [Tyrone Police Department spokesman Philip Nelson] said.

Brown played nine seasons in the NBA between 2006 and 2015. He was part of the back-to-back title wins by the Lakers in 2009 and 2010, making the 6-foot-4 shooting guard a two-time champ. In three years with L.A., Brown averaged 7.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
